Just a day

Today, I:

1. speed walked 5 miles with my new boots on to try to prepare for the Caledonian Challenge. I don't think 5 miles around London is going to cut it for 54 miles over the mountains of Scotland. But it was nice. The sun shone. I noticed stuff I normally rush past. My boots felt ok. I stopped at Wholefoods on the way back. At which point I remembered that there really are two worlds.
2. read the Sunday papers from cover to cover and actually found stuff good enough to tear out and read later. Caitlin Moran mainly. But not entirely
3. wrote a presentation for work. And realised I need a researcher.
4. wrote two disciplinary docs for a client. Not so much fun.
5. spent a happy half hour finding interesting shit on twitter. And , yes, there is some. Try Maria Popova
6. talked on the phone to a random, old almost-but-not-quite 'boyfriend' (which is ridiculous as I am nearly 60 but what else do you call them?). Laughed a lot. That's good.
7. listened to Renee Fleming singing Handel and Malena Ernman singing all sorts and sang along. Lovely. Them. Not me.
8. failed to do the really big thing I need to do to secure some more and potentially very exciting work. So I need to get over the fear and do it. Tomorrow.
9. messaged someone I love. Because they messaged me. Too easy to forget how good that feels.
10. pissed off my cat by doing all the above and not settling long enough to cuddle.

So I will now.

Goodnight
